What I don't understand is how anyone would agree to step in for $30k in a situation like this. If that kind of money would go a long way in your life right now/have an impact on your future, then you should never lend anywhere close to that -- if any at all.

So the money that was supposed to be held in escrow went to medical bills? I wish BAS the best with health and his family but these are 2 seperate things. My parents, sibling, significant other, and my kids are the only people I would vouch that much money for. I would rather have their well being than the money so they can have it. Holding 30k and saying you're doctor told you no gambling and then I can't get to the money right now is BS. Head mod or not. 2 years later Defying ain't getting paid.
So if that's not what happened, where did the 30K go? Why wasn't it held separately from your funds? If it was held separate what made you think you had the right to use other people's money?

I'm guessing no one really knows what there capable of doing until there put into that situation. I'm not saying it's right or wrong but thinking how you might react is all speculation. There by the grace of God go I. What do you want to be remembered for can get real ugly really quickly. Hopefully a silver lining comes out of this .

tough to understand why nothing was paid for years to someone who did you such a solid if the money was held separately for 3 full years? This makes zero sense to me unless you always intended to stiff the person who helped you out.
It is not realistic that someone couldn’t make even a small good faith payment for multiple years even if the money was already spent. But if the money was there all along it makes it look even worse that there was nothing paid towards the debt for years.
hope you do the right thing. I’d own your mistake and make it right however long it takes. Never too late for a new beginning.
